Linkia Necrosis

We purchased an Orange Linkia on-line (I now know we should have gotten one in a shop where we could observe over time).

I acclimated him with a drip over several hours until the salinity and PH matched the QT tank. However, the bag water was originally 1.022 with a PH of <7.8. Over the past week, he has slowly developed necrosis, first on the tip of one - now a little higher on a couple of his legs. They are still small patches (white coming out). However, it seems to be slowly getting worse.

I've read that some recommend an antibiotic dip (or putting into a small tank and dripping in antibiotics - we have live rock and refugium on our QT (thinking he would need the food over a few weeks). Would you recommend any antibiotic treatment? If so, what antibiotic and what is the best way to treat (and for how long)?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like he is dissolving.
Sorry to hear, I have no advice as I have never had luck with stars, but you have my sympathies. :(

Thanks for the sympathy anyway! I often think that it is the heart felt concern people on this thread that keeps me going in this hobby... I know it is in the bad times!

I knew better than to be talked into a Linkia. I really don't like contributing to the collectors given their survival rates. Never again!!!

they don't lest. :( i had two huge beautiful blue linkias and i hated to see them dying. people need to leave linkias where they belong.
