Lionfish Issues

Good Evening,

I have a buddy who has a 5 inch lionfish in a 75 gallon tank with a small snowflake eel. The lionfish has been in the tank for almost a year and eats krill, shrimp and ghost shrimp like crazy.

He came home tonight and noticed the lionfish's neck is totally swollen and looks as if its head is falling off.

I am not too familiar with lionfish so I don't know what to say. It looks like ICH but I probably am wrong.... He has taken the fish out and QT but I feel it may be too late.

If it indeed is ICH how will he need to treat the DT? It has the small eel and a few corals.

My thoughts were a ton of water changes, fresh carbon, increase skimming and reduce feedings to the eel. We are trying to avoid emptying the tank but will obviously do so if needed.

notice the area around the neck...

Why would you think this is ich? I'm not good with pics and the little yellowish specks all over the pic make it really tough. This fish looks seriously ill. Is it eating? Long term feeding of krill has been linked to problems with lions, like lockjaw. Its possible that the fish has a big load of flukes, just a guess from the way the eye looks. I'd treat with Prazi-Pro; but don't get your hopes up.
