Lionfish with Ich?

So like I've said in other threads, I received my Lionfish and put him into my tank about 1 week ago. He is eating Silversides and acts OK. He rests on rocks and on the sand bottom but occasionally will swim around. I recently have given a very good look at his fins and noticed some white spots. The water quality seems to be ok and my filtration is working. He is my only fish in the tank along with some snails and two shrimps that I am suprised he hasn't eaten yet. Before I had the Lion, I had a small tang that came down with a disease(Im thinking Ich) and died. I left the tank empty(no fish) for about 2 weeks before putting the Lion in. Is there anyway the Ich could of lasted in the tank for longer than 2 weeks and now has infected the lion? If the lionfish does have Ich, how can I treat him.

Note: I do not have a QT.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I'm sorry to say- but ich is an amazing organism and can last in cystic form for around 6 weeks in a tank. In the free-swimming form they die quite quickly if they don't find a host to feed on (about 3 or 4 days)... but the cystic form can lie dormant for a long time- I've read 6-8 weeks or so. The cyst then basically ruptures and releases hundreds (if not thousands) in the free-swimming form. These are the white dots you see on your fish.

i would try something like ich attack with the lion... if its bad you can double the dosage with it and it disrupt anything. You try and catch it and freshwater dip it. It worked wonders for me once.
