Lionfish with Triggers

It's not a given, but in many cases, trigger fish seem to enjoy nipping the long, showy fins of lion fish. This causes stress and can lead to other serious issues for the lion. Many hobbyists keep the two fish together w/o incident, but it's something to be aware of.

with a bluethroat/sargassum/crosshatch/niger and black durgon i would say yes. But Humas can be a little careless and beligerent when it comes to tankmates. Maybe a bigger lion (5") and smaller huma (3") may work...

My huma is pretty small so maybe it'll be ok. He's in with a couple fish now and doen't really seem to bother anybody unless they try and take his cave.

I just tried it, a lion and a niger in a 265gallon. I wish I did not. My trigger picks at the lion and now the lion just hides. I took the lion out, but now I have no place for it.

I have a 4-5" huma in with a 8" lion for a year. No issues. I do know that it is risky, but I have 2 other tanks for the lion if something happened.

The trigger can harm the lion, but they don't always do it. If you are going to try it, have a REAL plan for what to do if something goes wrong.

He'll get bigger. Rhinecanthus triggers are especially adept at killing lionfish. I know some people have success with it, but I don't think it's worth it.
