Liopropoma Eukrines

I've tried a few over the past couple of years. If you plan on keeping them I would keep a chiller running in the summer unless you keep the room temperature down with home AC. Maintain good water quality as they seem to be first one to go when it's not. They get along with various fish well: angels, triggers, tangs and butterflies.

I usually buy 2 at a time whenever possible and if you end up with a male and female they will not bother each other but if you have 2 males one will chase the other. I don't think you can tell male from female other than size but one time I had 3 in a tank the two larger one went at it and the one that was still around hangs out with the smaller one afterward. They eat prepared food and grows pretty fast. Ones I have kept they tend to come out swim and feed in the open after 2 weeks or so. I have one now with a black tang, 2 butterfies, coral beauty, filefish and a male pink margin wrasse.

Thanks, I have gotten 1... It is in my betta box now and feeding, will release it once it starts to feed more aggressively as it is still quite passive and picky.

im interested in this fish as well. can anyone else provide more info on them? reefsafe? adult size? feeding in wild? schooling tendencies? aggression?

They are a solitary species in the wild, and feed on small invertebrates and even smaller fishes. That said, they are still a good reef fish IMO. They can reach almost six inches. I love this fish and it's super rare pacific cousin!

Hey nice fish.

I plan to have one soon. Please keep us updated on the progress:).

By the way, someone mentioned that it will eat small fishes.
Will it eat lets say a Starcki damselfish?

Pacific cousin? Mine is still a medium one, just hope it grows a little and stop. If not I am going to upgrade my tank further..

Too big for it to eat.. unless you have gotten a big one I guess.. for this one that I have gotten. Totally impossible to eat a damsel.

First day eating some mysis, but today, it totally ignore and hide behind a pvc pipe in the betta box, is it those fish that will not eat until it is super full? Becos I have a liopropoma sp (yellow tail reef basslet) that is a glutton..

Hey

don't want to be negative but based on my experience, when a fish eats and then stop, there is usually something wrong like a parasite. Maybe check for internal parasite or bacteria.

It is eating but very slow and little.. not sure if the flow is too high for it to catch the food..
