List of captive bred fish

I'm working on a new list of captive bred fish for my new fish room / hatchery I'm working on finishing. I've taken the list I found here at RC and added others to it. I'm sure that there are other marine fish that have been captive bred that I need to add. I then took that list and went through the latest price lists for ORA and Proaquatix to see what is actually available. There are a lot of fish that have been bred at one time or another, but are not currently avaliable.

Here is my list so far: Captive Bred Fish

If you have anything to add to the list, please let me know and I will update the file.

Why am I doing this? I love fish and writing, and hope to share what I learn with others in the hopes that we can increase the number and types of captive bred fish that are available to our hobby. Hopefully I can write a series of articles on each fish I breed that will allow others to breed this fish. Even if the large commercial hatcheries don't find certain species profitable the average hobbyist might find it is profitable in his or her area and we can have a series of small hatcheries around the country.

I don't know how I forgot Reef Culture Technologies. I've updated the file now with the new information.

Thanks for the help.

Royal & Blackcap basslets aren't blennies.

Right off the bat noticed the absence of the GreenBanded Goby (the pair I'm working with right now is Captive Raised - original breeder though is unknown).

Also, Cardinals, I've seen Apogon compressus (Blue Eyed Cardinalfish) available (etropicals). Avagelli has produced fry of Pterapogon mirifica and a few others (read his recent report at http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=6600693

Not sure if your list is only to cover species produced in "commercial" quantities, nor those that have been spawned but not successfully reared...there's definitely many more species that could go on that list (i.e. where are the Jawfish?). I also believe I've seen more Meiacanthus species successfully reared besides the two you've listed.

FWIW,
