List of cool non-herpies softies?

Bent

I got nothin'
Can we get a list going of softies that won't spread like gonnorhea? I love my toadstool, and I'd like to find another softie. I just don't know what ones won't spread.

There are a few nice looking Sinularia Leather corals. For polyp's I think that Florida Ricorda are a good choice. They keep a tight colony and are not super fast growers, easy to clip off of rocks also.

Ya Ben I agree with Jay, the green Sinularia that I have is awesome, and adds a nice green color to your tank. Needs high flow and lots of light to be happy.

What I have noticed is if you go to a place like Live Aquaria and look at the soft corals that are labeled as moderate or difficult, they seem to be the ones no one claims of taking over. If you look at the ones labeled easy, it includes all your normal "Herpes" corals. This maybe a good starting point to identify corals you may be interested in and then further research if they are of the "STD" variety.

I really like the sinulara! Really pretty. That may be an option for sure.

I have gsp on it's own rock that I frag every few months. one Kenya that will have to be fragged. most of my other softies are growing at a nice pace.

3dees that's one very nice Kenya tree, mine is getting big but not near as thick as yours is. I'll have to get a picture of it tomorrow

Scored a nice sinularia!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys and gals.

I picked up a very nice green sinularia from a very generous local club member, It is one of my favorite softies in my tank, Bright green and isn't spreading like wildfire...I got a little frag or pipe organs and now there all over in my tank...I swear they are spreading faster then mojano/aiptasia....

When you say "lots of light", what is considered lots of light? I have a T5 fixture with 6 bulbs at 54 watts each. 4 blue, 1 purple, and 1 14k Coral Plus. Would that be enough light for one of these? Thanks!

Yes that is fine you're in good shape. Just remember that T5 bubs only last about 6-9 months at best

My Yellow Fiji leather is my favorite soft coral. Mine is the color of a lemon. In high light they really color up nicely. I really like most leathers.

May have to get a Fiji yellow toadstool. The one I have I think is standard Grey, it looks blue under the lights though.
