List of products for 3g nano?

I have started up a 3g nano that I built for fun. Since I have never dealed with that size of a tank, I have am unsure for the products that I should be buying. I wouldn't want to buy something that would not be needed.
So far I have:
Coralife Mini AquaLight(2x9w PC(10k and Actinic))
Live Sand and rock taken directly from my current setup

Now, the questions:
1.What kind of pump would be good for flow? I was thinking of getting the Mini Jet 404...
2. Should I get some sort of filtration? If so, what type? Tiny Power filter or hang on refugium?
3. Am I forgeting anything else?

Thanks

For such a small tank you really don't need very much in terms of flow. It depends on what you want to keep although a pump that produces 60-80 gallons per hour should be fine. A MicroJet or MiniJet powerhead should work very well for the tank. For my 2.5g tank all I used was a AquaClear 30 to provide the flow and it did a good job.

You should depend on the live rock and live sand to be your primary filtration for the tank. Maybe adding a small HOB filter with some carbon or phosphate removing media would be something to think about using.

As far as supplies are concerned, heater, thermometer, marine salt, hydrometer or refractometer, test kits, food, cleaning equipment, etc. are other items that are needed.

For heating your tank a small 25watt heater should be fine.

Well anyway good luck with your tank and if you have any more questions just ask. :)

Would this work as additional filtration? Mainly for running carbon and PO4 media.

Were can I buy a heater small enough for this tank?

Thanks

I would get a larger HOB filter and hid the heater in the filter. There are some small heaters, I know tetra makes a one thats about 4'' and sub. (sells at walmart), I use one in my recycling tank and only had it for a couple of months so I dont know the durability.

my favorite is the hagens but thats just me.
Also, I was able to find a lamp at target that had a 27w PC with a 6500k bulb. I will replace the bulb and maybe the ballast in a year with a 50/50 later. The lamp nice because it looks like a office lamp but its really for the tank. It is ajustable too!

I personally like to use AquaClear HOB Filters. They have adjustable flow control, can hold many different types of media, and are reasonably priced. A AC 20-30 would work fine for only media however if you want to hide a heater in the filter I would go with a large model like the AC 70-110.

Here is a small 25watt heater. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=12060&N=2004+113767

From what I've read those heaters are very reliable and work great.

I used the smallest heater (by size, not wattage) available here, for half year already no problems, for 1-4g tanks, All-Glass Submersible Heater 50 W (Hydor made):

This is 1g tank, with Red Sea nano-filter.

The AquaClear power filters (30 and 50) are too loud for sleeping not far from the tanks. May be because they are for a bigger tanks.

The quieter are: Red Sea nano-filter, Whisper 10i and DynaFlo1, the last two - with cartridges removed, replaced by plastic grid to hold filter floss roll (like Big Al's 20 sq. ft. roll - it thinner, than 10 sq.ft.). For a fine filtration the piece of micron pad may be added. The photos in details and reviews are here.

I think, that additional powerhead is not necessary - the filter should give enough flow, if not - next size of the filter.

The Mini-Jet is really good (unlike Maxi- and Micro-Jets, that are cruder and louder, have them all), I know only MJ 606, it's small and quiet. Comparison photos are here, post #19.

Refugium is always good, but it requires light, like 27W spiral lamp for desktop lamp. You can also incorporate macroalgae inside the tank. Ochtodes is the lowest light algae, that I'm aware of, it's growing under 18W PC in my 6g tank.
