Litermeter 3 Opinions

Reaching out to all LiterMeter 3 owners. I am considering the LiterMeter system to set up an automatic water change system in my new tank. The saltwater container will be approximately 10 ' below (and 15' away) from the sump in the room above. I have two basic questions:

1. If you are running this system how often do you need to calibrate the pumps? How accurate are they and how reliable?

2. I could set the pump up either in the main display tank room or in the fish room below where I have the salt container. I am considering adding the high water shut off valve and the only benefit I can see from locating the pump near the sump is I won't need to add the 20' extension tube for the high water shut off valve.

Litremeters are great units, I really calibrate initially with all hoses in place.
If I need more or less I adjust the amount per day.
In all the years I have used one I never re calibrated. Pumps are very reliable & can be repaired if needed, Spectrapure's service is top notch.
I use mine as a top off only.
I would set it up by the water container & use RO tubing for the run.
Jeremy can walk you through the process if necessary.

I've used em for all applications, dosing, top off, waterchange. They are nice, accurate but if you had a apex already I'd get a DOS for water changes. I use those on 3 tanks now. Not a issue in 8 months with accuracy or reliability

I've been using them since the Nineties and never had one fail. I only have ever needed to calibrate once unless I changed the length of the tubing.

Same as everyone else. Used for continuous water changes and kalk reactor. Very reliable and versatile. I calibrate whenever I change tubing (annually).

All,

Thanks for all the great feedback. I have thought about an apex or profilux controller and dosing pumps but I really like the feedback everyone has for these pumps and I'm not yet convinced that I need an apex for my setup.

Will probably order the Litermeter this weekend

I used my Litermeter III for water change for five years and for dosing for 10 years. Never had a problem with them. I recently upgraded my tank with an Apex 2016 and now use a DOS for water change, top off, and dosing and like the DOS system better for two reasons. They are easier to calibrate than the liter meter and you get the quantity of amount dosed all consolidated on your cell-phone, PC, or iPad.

I moved my Litermeter to my QT tank for ATO and dosing, still a very solid product and worth the money I just prefer DOS at this point but don't know about the reliability yet.
