Little Giant pump reviews?

I recently purchase a Little giant pump, 1150 gph and installed it on my new 180 gallon tank. The motor is loud and after an hour, the motor was too hot to touch. The lfs took it back and was able to get a new one in 3 weeks. I connected it last night with the same results.

Has anyone else had this experience? I am suppose to oil the motor before hand, even though it says its ready to go from the factory?

Help with this, any suggestions on quiet quality pumps?

They get hot, normal for these pumps. If you are not going to use a submersible one I would recommend Iwaki.

I would like to use a submersible, as I feel they are more quiet. Do you have a recommendation for one of these? Thanks for the advice. I will look into an Iwaki.

For submersible try Mag pondmaster....I run two of them right now.

I would try a eheim 1262 internal or externally. I use it on my 150 with great results. I switched from a little giant 1325gph to the eheim. The little giant added heat to my tank and was noisy. The eheim is under rated on GPH. It's silent and runs cool.

be wary because most submersible pumps will add heat to your water
