Live Food

Can anyone suggest a live food they have had success with? Maybe even something I could culture?

What kind of fish? Large fish or small fish? Pod eaters or shrimp eaters.

Pods. You can culture with a tank and feeding it phyto, which you can also culture.

Ghost shrimp would be big enough for them. Their a FW shrimp.

I have a hatchery and am growing about a million shrimp about the size of a pin head. I put a small amount of hached ones in the tank and noone even noticed. Maybe they will grow in the tank. I have read that adult brine aren't real nutricious though.

I ordered some of these. From what I am reading is that it is safer to use freshwater live food in a salt tank to reduce the risk of disease. We'll see how these guys go.

I also ordered some pods. We'll see who survives the best.

Mysis are much more beneficial than brine. You can soak the brine in selcon or another vitamin supplement, but they may result in making your live food not alive

Why not, I'll try those out too. Do people use Mysis/Mysid interchangeably or what is the difference?

I believe that they are used interchangably.

Pretty sure mysis is proper, but maybe it's a singular/plural type thing.

Can't remember wher I seen it but live Mysis are really expensive..
