Live rock curing

I have been curing some live rock in a tub for a while now, and all of my levels are reading zero. However, there are a few pieces that have dead sponges in places I can't get to them to scrub off. Is it okay to add them to my main display since the bacteria on the rock is able to keep up with the amonia produced by the decaying sponge?

yes it will be fine, the whole point of liverock is to get the live stuff... ie, sponges...etc. Please don't tell me you have been scrubbing the liverock...? jeezz!!!!

Not really scrubbing.. More or less just scraping off the dead stuff.. Leaving the live stuff.. =)

I thought you were supposed to scrub off the stuff that was obviously dead. That is, if it doesn't float off on its own.

You are.. Just don't scrub off the live stuff.

yeah i always just use a light brush to get the obviously dead stuff off, thats what is going to cause a big ammonia spike
