Live rock question

i have a lot of green hair alge growing in my tank right now. i was wondering if i could take the rocks out and put them in a 5 gallon bucket and scrub them and then put them back in. the watter in the 5 gallon bucket would be ro/di water but have no salt. also i have a manderin and i dont want to losse any podes that i might have in the rock. will i if i scrub the rock. what should i do thanks jeremy. and sorry this is not the right rorum but i could not find one on LIve Rock and i know people in here know what there talking about thanks.

You don't want to scrub your rock in freshwater. All the pods and other good stuff will jump ship and die. Scrub your rock in saltwater.
