Live rock question.

Good morning everyone I have a question about live rock that I'm not too sure about. There is a reefer that is breaking down his 4 yrs old tank down today and is willing to sell me his live rocks @ $2 lbs, about 80 lbs total. My problem is that I'm moving up to a 120 gal from a 40 gal breeder but my 120 won't be here until 2 weeks from yesterday. I look at the rocks yesterday and they are really nice. I'm taking all the rocks that have no corals on it, but was wondering if I place the rocks in a bucket with a powerhead and heater for two weeks without light will the remaining life on the rock die?

what kind of remaining life? corals would for sure die as would any plant material i would think but the coraline algea should be ok it might bleach out a little but im sure would come back full strength after a while...hope this helps

the coralline will prob die off, but not the bacteria. you should be fine.

There are no corals. When I said life I meant like pods and other critters. I have a lamp that is in my shed that I can use to light the bucket, but I'm not sure if any light will work.

im by far an expert but im pretty sure as long as you have a heater and a pump to make the water flow all the pods should be fine

The pods may not make it, but you'll get lots of new ones once the LR is back in your tank...so I wouldn't worry about that.

The pods will more than likely live if you keep the water parameters within reason. Pods don't need light. I certainly grow the things like crazy in the back of my Aquapod. I'd definitely jump at the deal. You should get very little die-off over two weeks.
