Live Rock / Sand Cycling Question

I am currently setting up my 90gal and have just added water to the tank.
My dry rock arrives tomorrow and I will be setting it up in a brute container for a few weeks until cycled and cured.

My question then is in regards to my live sand (yes, I understand there are many detractors to the idea of live sand) and if there would be any benefit to putting the live sand in the tank while the rock cures in the brute.

Logically, if the live sand really is live, it would be an empty tank with sand that allows the bacteria to multiply. Or am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

My understanding was the brute would be both easier for water changes and better with the low light. Unless it would be better to cycle them together and get my aquascaping set right away.

Yes, cycle them together. Actually, you should add an egg crate/light diffuser. Then add your rocks to your liking. And, then add sand for a better foundation. Rock would be stable this way. Now, you will be cycling the rock and sand at the same time. Better to monitor this way. Good luck and happy reefing.

I have a 90G also and I setup sand and rock at the same time! It ran for 24hrs to adjust temp, salinity and I added Live Bacteria 2 Clowns "Nemo" up and running!! enjoy your tank today.....too easy.
