Is there any certain way you need to have the rocks or NOT?

I have the setup about 8 days now ,I tried to make openings like a tunnel as I was told in the store .

But I was also told they should not touch the glass and they should all try to touch each other which is really not possible I was also told to make caves Which I did not.

is there a do and do not ? or is it play by what you want?

You can pretty much do what ever you want. Caves to fish are typically tiny holes. Set it up so that it looks appealing to you. I have set rock up against the back and side glass before without issue.

The only reason not to put it against the glass that I know of is cleaning...try scraping coraline off the glass when the rock is too close or touching, it's pretty hard to do. We have a nice little patch of coraline on the right side of our tank because the rock is too close to get the razor blade in between it and the glass.

Otherwise it's what you like...aquascaping is an art and with all art, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people like a rock wall, rock piles, pillars and spans, etc.
