Live Rock- ship 1 day or 2?

I placed a small live rock order with Premium Aquatics for my 30 cube and asked to have it shipped second day air. Should I have it changed to overnight shipping to keep more of the life on the rock or is 2 day sufficient. It's only 15 lbs and the overnight was $40 more. Thanks.

2 day is fine. i shipped mine 3day!!! but u will have to cure it for about a week. unless its not cured then 2weeks.

It's cured. I was going to put it right in the tank since there is nothing in there anyway. I have a big skimmer for the tank. If I went with overnight shipping would it cure faster or not necessarily? I would like to keep as much life as possible. Has anyone had rock shipped 1 day and 2 day, can you tell the difference?

I would put it right in tank, You said theres nothing in there. It will have some die off on it In a week it will be back to normal

I ordered 80lbs of LR from That Fish Place and did two day shipping. Not much survived on the rocks! and it was packaged pretty well. About five yrs ago I had another reef tank with LR from FL. that I got shipped overnite and so much lived through the shipping trauma. I would spend the extra and do overnite if you are ordering premium rock. JMO

it depends on the live rock itself and how live it is.Some people will seal you live rock that has been in bins uder poor lighting.Premium live rock should last during shipping just like a coral lasts.As long as the rock is cured its fine.I prefer to buy it from lfs so that way you see what you are buying.In the end it will grow things on it anyways.

Steve from what I have heard it's nice rock. I think I will take Seajuice's advice and upgrade to next day shipping. It's such a small amount of live rock I am adding. I want to keep it as fresh as possible. Thanks.

its rock! 2day is fine. i bought some from that fish place, at my last visit there, i live 2hrs away and it looked the same as when i got it 2day shipped from fl. just a little less wet. it did smell better that the rock from That fish place. the shipped rock was cured and the rock from that fish place was half cured, they got it on monday and i bought it on friday.

If it's just cheap rock, then 2nd is fine, but if it's good rock with alot of extra life then there will be more die off going with 2nd day.
