live rock shipment

Hi, I ordered a box of live rock. When I opened it I noticed one of the heat packs had broken and got on some of the rock. It was hard to get all of it off the rock and all nooks and crannies. So some of the stuff is still on the rock. I have the rock sitting in a garbage can with saltwater. Is it ok to keep the little bit in there with the water or will it leach something into the water? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Ryan,

Rinse the rock as well as you can, getting off as much as possible. If you're just setting this rock in a trash can / vat for the time being, which I believe you are, you will not have any issues at all.
