Starting a 125 gallon tank and i need live rock. i was thinking about 130lbs. but i dont know what a healthy ratio would be between base rock and live rock.
You can get live rock for $3. lb delivered, base rock for not much less. Better off getting all live rock, IMO
Unless you can find base rock at a local dealer for about $1.50 lb.
A 50/50 mix should be OK.
Sorry to piggyback on your thread, but I was wondering where you found the $3/lb live rock shipped. I will be needing about 70-80lbs soon and the LFS has cured Fiji for $5.50/lb.
I used Sea Trade Marine to fill my 200 gallon. I used a mix of Pukani, Fiji Ultra Premium and Kaelini. All of the rock was completely as advertised. Sea Trade (Bernie) has also been providing me with all of the inhabitants over the last three months. Excellent e-tailer and first class customer service.
Yes I have exchanged emails with Bernie as well. Extremely helpful and eager to answer questions. And I never realized airfreight was so cheap! around 50 cents!
I bought mine at www.oceanproaquatics.com They have very good prices and good rock. I bought around 180lbs for my 125g and have since put around another 20lbs. They have fiji premium for 2.25lb and the pukani is like 1.00 more. Im not sure the shipping as i drove down and picked it up. They are very honest.
Heres a link to my orginal post when i picked up my rock. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=573306&highlight=rock
