if i get some live rock and put other "dead" rock in, will the things that clean the wtaer and inhabit the live rock eventually go to the other rocks making the filter things and have the addvantages of liverock?

Any "dead rock" can become a piece of liverock as long as it is cured and place in the neighbour of a thriving liverock. In fact, that is how a company in Florida manufacture their liverock. They dig out lime rock inland witch is coral fussel from millions of years ago, transport them out to the ocean and drop them in a shallow "rock farm", let it simmer and wait two years until they harvest it.
