WHAT IS THE RULE OF THUMB FOR POUNDS OF LIVE ROCK PER GALS OF WATER IN A REEF TANK

I was told by my lfs that 1lb per gallon is good but more is better, you almost need a loan to fill a big tank

It depends on the type of rock, But as a general rule 1-2 lbs per gallon. This all depends on the density of the rock less dense means less rock needed. I would look into Marshal island rock very nice rock and not very dense. Check out this site. http://www.livestockusa.org/index.html
