i just purchased some live rock today and didnt notice until i got home that there was some sort of red coral growing on it. will i have to run the lights now to keep it alive because i am still cycling the tank its been set up for 2 weeks?

well, get an ID on it if you can, then you can figure out lighting needs etc...

i think it would be to small to identify but there red and they have a tube with little spiky bits comming from the top of the tube

try reefs.org's hitchikers forum. usually get an ID really fast, but have a good picture in your post.

its too small to photograph. oh and there is like 20 or so of them and they are about 3-4 mm tall if that helps

Its most likely sponges. They will die off in the cycle process. No big deal.
