Live Rock

I recently put live rock in my tank about four days ago, the ammonia is obviously still spiked at 7.0-8.0 and I've actually got a blue devel damsel in there who is having the time of his life. I was just wondering how long I should expect, I was planning on 2-3 weeks. Could I put a cleaner package in there now? Thank you!

i wouldn't put anything in there until it is at a minimal level, such as 0. 7-8 is WAY too high for that damsel. that would be like us swimming all day in urine. the best thing to do is to get him out of there, put him in a QT or take him back to the LFS and wait to put anything else in until the readings are at 0.

i only have a 20 gallon and it took me just under 6 weeks for my 35 lbs. of LR to cure and finally finish cycling.

I wouldnt put anything in the tank while the Ammonia level is that high adn would recommend taking the damsel out, however, it would also help to do some water changes.

take the damsel out, hold out on the water changes, it will only prolong the cycle. It will level its self out. If it doesnt take the rock out and inspect it to get any dieing stuff off.
