Bob1,
Thank you for your post. The type of Live Rock you purchase for your aquarium is personal choice. Any type of rock can be mixed and matched. Rock and live sand can be added simultaneously. Different types of sand can be mixed as well.
We recommend adding 1 ½ to 2 lbs of rock per gallon and sand should be roughly 2 inches per gallon. However, this is personal choice as well and also depends on what type of fish you are housing. Sand sifting and burrowing fish, Jawfish, some Blennies and Gobies, require a deeper sand bed. Please contact us with any other questions or concerns.
