Live Rocks for Refugium SPS tank Good or Bad?

I would like to know if anyone successfully run their system without refugium?

If so, what I would like to do is to remove chetos and replace them with good live rocks to help with biological filtration. my plan is to have it runs at night when the display tank lights out. by doing this, I also hope it'll help keeps Ph level up at night.

any thoughts or experience with this method?

I have been running a Deep sand bed with live rock in my refugium for about 8 months now. I do have a small handful of chaeto that I just added. Running the light over it at night opposite the DT lights. So far so good!

Macroalgae is just one way to create competition for the nutrients that microalgae would otherwise consume. There are plenty of other ways to keep your nitrates and phosphates down, good husbandry goes a long way of course.
