Live Sand Mess

HELP , Last week I put 150lbs of beautiful fine white ESV sand in my 90g. (I am still cycling with LR and LS in my Refugium) I got the bright idea to put 40lbs of GARF LS and grunge to activate the sand and to further the cycling process. Well 2 days later now that I can see through the tank again I have a very silty blackish substrate on top of what was a really nice looking DSB. I'm a bit nervous to add more sand on top of this grunge. Any opinions if adding more ESV sand on top of this would cause any problems. Any other suggestions....:eek2:

I would like to give you some good sage advice but I just don't have good answer for this one.

How deep is your "DSB".

You know that nothing in this hobby happens fast. In fact if you take your time and let nature, your live rock, do it's job your tank will be a much better tank. Given that if what you truly have is a DSB then what you should have gotten is a live sand actifier. It's basically bugs, amphipods copepods and other assorted critters online.
This would put the critters in the sand as well and it's safe.
I don't really know what the Grunge is.

I am unsure how to solve this one. Maybe someone who has used this stuff can help you out. I have a sneaking suspicion that if you just put more sand over it after time it will just disappear.

I hope someone can help you.

Regards,

Pat
