Liveaquaria true perculas

If you have purchased wild caught true perculas (ones from Solomon Island, or Papua) from Liveaquaria, can you please post photos? Just trying to see if the coloration is different than their tank raised, i.e. darker between the white stripes.

Thanks

I cant post pictures (as my cats literally ate them two days after I had them acclimated....hello eggcrate). But I can tell you that they were vibrant in color but misbarred.

If you're not into misbarred clowns I'd try to make sure you dont recieve them. I was disapointed with my order for that reason.

And I ordered the Sol Islands ones....about 7 months ago.

I bought a pair. One was much lighter in color than the other. The lighter colored one was also misbarred. Oh well, they mated and happily took up residents in my rbta.....so whata ya gonna do. With my luck if I received two perfectly colored true percs they probably would have snubbed the anenome..............

LOL Thanks! Did they have a lot of black between the white bars? I'm not sure if they develop the darker coloration or not but I like them with thick black coloration on the body but not totally black like the onyx clowns.

Yes they did. But it probably depends on what they've received. Write a comment when you submit your order stating exactly what your looking for. I would also place the order midweek, so your note is more likely to receive attention vs. an order placed over the weekend. (Monday's are big shipping days for them). Better yet call your order in and tell them exactly what you're trying to locate.

I called liveaquaria asking this exact question. I wanted ones with more black between the lines, and not uniform. The guy on the phone said tank raised are more popular because they are generally more healthy, and they are more uniform in color. They also told me if I wanted something specific, like clowns with more black, to put that in my comments when placing the order. I asked if they could send pics to my e-mail so I could choose, they said no, which i kinda figured :).

I however found out that my LFS can order them, and just ordered from them so that I was guaranteed there health, and I got to choose which ones I wanted. It was a little more but I got 2 clowns that I was completely happy with.

I have found tank raised to be less colorful, but have read that this is changing. They do have the their benefit. As a whole, they are healthier when received, and you're not removing wild fish from the ocean.

Captive bred - less stressed, readily eats man made food (flake, pellets), interesting misbar patterns, no disease (if seller doesn't combine captive bred with wild caught fish)
