Looks like they finally changed their 14 day guarantee policy bc of customers abuse. Any request for credit now requires a photo.

That just sounds like good business sense. And shame on customers who might have abused the guarantee.

Yes, I just spoke with them since my captive breed court jester came in dead. I will be getting replacement since mine happen before policy change, They will now require a photo of dead specimen on white back ground, then uploaded. Once they review it they will then recieve a credit. There will also no more reshipments either.

Should not be an issue for anyone with a dead fish. I only see it as an issue for people trying to abuse the system.

From the website:
Every aquatic life order is backed by our arrive alive and stay alive for 14 days guarantee
In the case of a loss, please contact our Customer Service Department here as soon as the loss occurs (including any loss upon arrival). To take advantage of the guarantee, follow the steps outlined below within your guarantee timeframe:
Attach a digital photo of the loss. The specimen should be photographed out of the shipping bag or aquarium and on a white background.
Include your name, order number, and item number of deceased specimen.
Please preserve the deceased specimen by placing it in a plastic bag, sprinkling a teaspoon of salt over it, and then freezing, in the event we would ask for the return of your specimen. You may discard the remains after we have processed your claim and sent you a verification email.

Zero chance I would do that.

I don't even think your allowed to ship deceased animals (of any sort) in the mail.

Interesting
I know they use to do it to people that abuse the system
If they see to manny deaths etc
Definitely not a problem for people that have dead fish the storing part is kind of disgusting unless its a expensive fish idd probably throw it out take my chances

What sucks is people that don't know the policy change would throw out the fish ahead of time and might end up loosing their money

BlueZoo has the exact same return policy. Picture uploaded and save the dead body until the credit is issued. I have never had them request the dead body back, and I have ordered from them many times.

Aren't we the people who keep frozen, blended fish, shrimp, mussels, ie Rod's or LRS frozen food in our freezers to feed our fish? What's the big deal of having a deceased fish in a paper bag for a little while?

Lol even that is nasty for me at least

And there different because one has a face and associated with your pets

I can see kids messing with it or being Traumatized

Traumatizing the kids is the fun part. :lolspin:

I would have to agree though, keeping a frozen body of a tiny fish in my freezer is no different then keeping some venison, hamburg, or pork roast in my freezer. Only difference is one has a face and is often associated with a pet. On that same note, ever have a pet die in the winter when you couldn't bury it? It was fun freaking out my friends when I was a kid because we had a dead cat in the freezer.

And yes I typically have fish with heads on them in my freezer from spring trout fishing.

... Are you going to ship your dead fish back with an ice pack? Most likely not because heavier weight costs more to ship.

One can only imagine what happens when there is a dead fish in summer weather in the back of a UPS truck that hits 100 degrees lol No thanks.

I think the saying goes "I like steak, but I don't want to meet the cow". Its a little different when its a pet in your freezer rather than some fish you bought at the supermarket; it is for me at least.

Use dry ice. lighter, colder.

Also, in my humble opinion, if you can't stand to meat the cow, you shouldn't be eating it.

Ya you have a valid point.

Still, there is a difference between an animal with the intention of eating and a pet your storing in your freezer.

I have frozen fish in my freezer. A few I just need to put in the ground out back, I have just been lazy. One has been in there a few years. It was my hippo tang that was almost 18 years old.

Maybe it's me but if a fish dies in my tank (rare) I usually can't find it and the cuc takes care of it. I m not going to rip apart tank for a credit. Imo
