Mertensii carpet anemone. $500. Firm. I will bump once a month, as I plan on a year to sell so I can close down a year from now. MUST have experience, and a stable system to keep. This is NOT a common anemone. Easy to keep, yes. Easy to find, no. I've had it for quite a few years. Approximate size is 24-28".
I am in no hurry to sell.
FTS of tank that will be shut down next year:

Also have a couple purple gigs for sale. $250 each. Firm. No hurry to sell either. I've had them for 6 months or so, bought one of them a year and a half ago for a friend, bought back 6 months ago.

Blue gig. $300 firm. Captivity for 3 years or so. Had been as large as 16" a couple years ago, but now 12-14" the past 6 months.

This could be a malu, crispa, or LTA. I personally think it's a malu, that's what I bought it as. It's been in a plastic bottom of a vinegar container for a while now, so easy moving. I think I've had it for 5 years or so. $120 firm.

I also have a few corals for sale. Wall hammer, green. Under high light, this is flourescent green. Greeeeeen green. I just cut it up a month ago to fit. Wall hammers don't frag easy, so if you are unsure of your abilities, please pass. This coral needs higher flow for the ripped flesh to heal. If your system is stable, and your abilities are high, you should have no problems with this coral. If you would like it, and are on the fence, like I said, I'm in no hurry and can hold it for a month or two or few. I have no problem holding for a couple months, I'm in no hurry to sell and would rather hold on longer to make sure it heals, it's only been a month since I cut it. $40 each. 3 available.

Spawn of some sort. $40, branching not sure how many heads, but quite a few.

Another wall hammer for sale. $40.

Galaxia coral. Right side has been shaded, left side has been in bright light.
$40

Neon green trumpets. $40

Surprised you're selling your Mertensii. I ended up selling my small Blue Gig. Still have the big one. We'll see, but maybe I'll pull the trigger on one of your Purples in the next year. Good luck with the sale!

Thanks! Everyone I talked to pretty much dropped their jaw when I told them too.

good luck. selling any fish/inverts?
Eventually when I have time to catch fish, yes. Anemones will be sold first. Removing fish first will make algae grow, tangs keep it at bay, so not selling fish as of yet. I'm not in a hurry, but if larger anemones rehome fast, this will change.

Any rocks the anemone's attached to will go with anemones.

Purple tang $140
Yellow mimic tang $50
Lavender tang $50
Lyretail Anthias $45 each (have 2)

it pains me to see this thread....... :worried2:

If you sell your shrooms please LMK Dave....I'll prolly take them all....

Here are pics, but see above post. Purple tang is about 4-4.5 inches. Purple tang is timid, and glass is dirty.

Lavender tang

mimic tang

Anthias

Anemones need to sell before fish. This may take some time. I'll update thread as it progresses.

Yeah, Craig, I didn't think this day would come. I need to start planning the coming years. I'm sure you'll be over. I'll let you know.

Dang I was about to pm you for a blue gig. Can't find any for sale anymore for a decent price. That's my luck though!

Sorry. I don't have the means to ship, and if there was a problem, we would both feel it was the other guys fault. If you're around Chicago, come on out.

Here's some more pics of the mertensii. It's a he...(watched it spawn cloud) and he's hungry. I'll try to get him fed this week and post a pic of his mouth closed. I rarely feed.

Clowns not for sale. I have a couple others I could include, but not in these pics.

Here are a couple pics of the purple gigs. The one on the right has good light, but needs more flow. Opposite can be seen on the left gig. Left gig needs more light, but gets plenty/too much flow. Both have remained generally in the same place I put them originally. If you compare you will be able to see. Right gig has very dark purple and tents have gotten fat (good light poor flow) and the left gig is thin and stringy, low purple coloring (high flow, low light). They need to be separated in order to thrive, (each needs a different tweak) but I'm out of space, and already have a tank with all thriving gigs. Both are healthy, but not thriving like they should be.

Here's the blue gig. It's getting good light and flow, but I'm sure would look better if I fed it. I'm at a point where food just makes the tank dirty, not feeding helps keep water quality up longer with less work.

Same blue gig, just a front view.

For kicks, here's a green one in this same tank. This one NOT for sale.

Malu inside vinegar container. Easy moving, sand dweller. I think I've had it 5 years maybe? It's about 8-10".

How big across is this S.gigantea?

ETA - The darker one on the right...

100% certain. Size maybe 6-8" while folded up.
I have 11 gigs, it's no accident the last 12 I've gotten my hands on have lived. I know gigs. I can usually spot them a mile away.
All the gigs I have, I have personally treated with cipro, or was involved with them through the process. Only one did not go through cipro, that's the yellow/green that was rehomed to another reefer a couple months ago, treating takes too much time.

Here's this morning. Maybe this explains why I know it's flow that's affected it. Still healthy, but not thriving. It's possible to have a healthy gig for years, and it never thrive. It needs to be relocated/tweaked in order to thrive.

The left one is the one you're wondering about. I treated this guy personally.

Here it is acclimating.

Here's the bleached group right after moving day. The little brown is currently still under the big blue. (brown not for sale).

This is in other reefers tank, under 400 watt MH, just before bleaching. Still in container.

100% certain gig.

Taylor, We might be misunderstanding each other...

I know that is an S.gigantea. I didnt think it was anything but an S.gigantea.
I was just curious about the size of the anemone and trying to determine if I had room for it in my system. Your S.mertensii is a beautiful anemone that is rarely found for sale in the hobby, but it is already bigger than I could house in my system. I've passed on S.mertensii's in the past that were healthy because of their size and space requirements.

I live in St Louis and would be willing to drive up and pick it up assuming you're willing to sell it to me, I have space for it, and I decide to buy it.

I have 3 H.magnifica anemones, (1 for 9 years, 1 for 4 years, and 1 for a little over a year), but I'm wondering about allelopathy with regard to an S.gigantea.

Have you seen or suspected allelopathy between H.magnifica and S.gigantea anemones?

Sorry, I thought you were asking me if it WAS a gig... My misunderstanding.

As for size, I don't feed often. Mine have remained close to the same size as I've gotten them.

I don't know if there is a problem mixing. From what I've seen, anemones look at their best with a species only tank. I currently have mixed anemones, but their tank has been neglected for a very long time. Getting flow right for such a large tank with so many demanding anemones has been tough.
