Okay..I got my two clowns in QT and they're doing great..eating,swimming, etc...they will be the first fish in DT..how do I go about choosing the next fish? I plan on softies and beginner corals but want to go ahead and plan for the next fish...

Please advise..

What do you like? Pick the next docile fish on your list. If it were me, my next fish would be a gramma or goby or blenny. Maybe even a cardinal or basslet

I started the same as you, 2 Ocellaris clowns. The next additions in order were:

Pearly jawfish
Royal gramma
Yellow watchman goby and pistol shrimp

If you mean a sand-sifter goby, don't get one. They live off of the micro fauna in your sand, so their food will rapidly be depleted in a 40 gallon. Also sand gets everywhere. Get a shrimp/goby pair. They won't help with the sand, but will form a relationship and dig a small burrow. LA DD currently has a really nice bonded pair of randalls gobies with a shrimp, something really cool that is easy to take care of: http://m.liveaquaria.com/diversden/ItemDisplay.cfm?c=2733+3&ddid=305465

Your jawfish and YWG get along? I've wanted to get a jawfish but herd it's difficult with the aggression issues.

No, the shrimp burrows in the sand, while the cleaner shrimp stays in the rocks. If crabs or snails get in the shrimps way, it will just pick them up and put them somewhere else. Red banded snapping shrimp are the smallest and most docile of the pistol shrimps, while the tiger pistol shrimp is larger and more aggressive. I would personally go with the red banded pistol shrimp.

Healer..Yeah I looked at the link you sent and think that looks like a cool next addition ...not too excited about the price tag but hey..everything in this hobby costs $150 dollars ..As I was thinking a goby anyway I think that might be the next move...

Piggybacking off the Goby and shrimp pair...I currently have my 2 blacker ice clowns in my QT...once I get those guys in and possibly go for the shrimp/goby duo..they need sand I would suspect...have you guys had any sand dwellers in your QT??...I've read just a small container containing fresh live sand??
