Livestock question

I asked about getting some livestock shipped and I was told it was too cold. Understandable, but do you allow someone to purchase a fish then hold it until the weather permits shipping?

Its not too cold :lolspin:
The seller might feel uncomfortable because of past issues they had
I have shipped in teen degrees with no issues so it all depends on how comfortable the seller is. If they want to hold it they should have had something listed somewhere so you knew prior to purchaseing this way if it wasnt a WYSIWYG and you wanted the coral sooner you could go somewhere else.

no I was laughing at the shipper not you ;) I feel for you because I know its frustrating. You get excited about getting somethiing and then get slammed with a 'oh by the way we are holding this due to weather' I just think its dis-honest on the sellers side they need to inform people prior if they are holding stock ya know?

Premium Aquatics is a fantastic vendor. They do not ship when it is cold because they are responsible. I do not have an order with them, but rather asking if I were to purchase a fish, would they hold it for me until weather permitted. Unless you have something positive to add to the thread please move on.

Jeremy, since this question was directed at you or another company rep please answer at your leisure. I was not being critical of the policy, just simply asking if you would do me a favor, let me know.

Oh I was not trying to offend any venders or any customers. If you want your livestock held by all means ask. I have mis-read your post and I appologize. I thought they had already told you they were holding it and you had purchased it already and wanted to know about this.
Again my fault I am sorry :sad2:

That's no problem at all to place an order and have it held to ship once the weather is better. We have quite a few pending orders right now being held because of the weather.

For the last few days we have been slammed with snow and frigid temps. The entire midwest and northeastern part of the US just got pounded by this major storm, and it's been the top National news story for the last 3 days now. This morning we woke up to temps of 5*, with a windchill of -10*. It's just entirely too risky to ship animals in that weather, not to mention the possible delaying of flights due to overnight icing, snow, etc.

We try to be as ethical as possible, and if a customer places an order for livestock we would rather tell them that we can hold the item for them, and ship once the weather is better, rather than to just take the money and ship it.

@Ranchero, I don't believe any livestock vendor that ships product would tell you that the above temps I mentioned are NOT too cold to ship in. Any ethical vendor with experience in shipping would hold off in this weather.

Thanks a lot for the explanation. I am close to you, (about 4hrs away) so I am having the same weather. Anyway, I was just wondering because I see you have had some great deals on some potters and I want to get an eating one, I am willing to wait on the weather. Thanks again.
