I bought this lobo at CRASE about a week ago. It has been doing great until I come home today and I see this.

You will see the lobo next to it and no other corals show any sign of stress. This all happened within 12 hours.

Any ideas?

It might have been attacked by the lobo next to it. I'm not sure if lobos hurt each other or not though. I have a lobo almost exactly like the one on the left and it's nasty. Anything within 6 inches down stream is toast. It even took out a patch of aiptasia on my rocks.

I don't suspect the lobo but I have moved it regardless. I agree it looks like a sting but I have never seen had the orange lobo sting other lobos it has been near. Of course that doesn't mean it wasn't the culprit.

I am doing a water change as I type and I will keep you updated.

it certainly looks like a coral attack to me. once the damage is done it can continue to spread. I would consider giving it a dip in coral revive to clean it and then move it away from any other corals and feed it often to give it energy to recover
