Local source of magnesium chloride?

I was looking for it a couple of months ago and could not find it locally. I ended up getting it from Harvey salt. It was a couple of dollars cheaper than buckeye field supply.

Making magnesium solution to raise in your tank. It's super cheap. Saves ALOT of money. With a 50 pound bag you can save at least a couple hundred bucks in magnesium costs. You can make anywhere from 10 to 15 gallons. With the high costs of magnesium, you can easily pay 15 to 20 or more per gallon of mix. It's worth it for tank owners that have bigger tanks.

Monday I will be picking up my chemicals. I will have calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, soda ash, and kalk. I am going to be getting it from the same company that supplies sea world. I am currently figuring out pricing.

How much do they sell it in? Just as a note, I stopped by a few fish stores and magnesium for a quart was 15.99. Considering you can make probably 15 gallons for 50 bucks, you can see how much money you can save.

I was looking at most fish stores and the gauranted analysis on most was between 32 and 37 percent. The stuff I will be getting if I am not mistaken is above 90 percent.

Will they sell to regular consumers? I buy 50 pound bags as needed but they run about 50 to 60 bucks shipped I recall.

Minimum order is 200 dollars and only to businesses. What are the percentages on the ones you are currently getting.

I'm not sure to be honest. I bought what Randy Holmes recommended.

Dowflake for the calcium and magflake for the magnesium.

I got the guaranteed analysis in Magnesium chloride is 46-48 percent, then just as a hexahydrate 98-100 percent, sulfate .29 percent, potassium .08 percent , sodium .44 percent, calcium .10 and the ph is 9-10. SO this means that 46-48 is magnesium, 1 percent other minerals and 61-63 percent water.

the calcium is about the same 99.2 percent pure as far as the calcium part goes .8 percent other minerals. And of course there is water. This list was not as detailed as the mag one, I think they sent me the wrong description the above percents are correct. I just need to get the other part of the analysis for the other minerals.
