Long Hairy Duncans

I am curious as to whether anyone else has seen duncans get quite so hairy looking. All the other duncans that I have owned in the past never had such long skirts to them.

They were brown in the center and short haired when I got them 6 months ago. The centers are now fluorescent green and the skirts are 2-3 inches long. I get mesmerized watching them in the flow of my MP10s.

Possibly lower in the tank does it? What kind of lighting, and what depth?
Either way, very nice.

Here's mine tonight, they're about 16" from a 175W 20K Plusrite bulb.

Looks fantastic. Couldn't see your tank that well but the aquascape looks really beautiful! I would love to see a FTS. The Monti's look like they are defying gravity.

Cakeman, did you get those local? Mine look similar with very long flowing skirts. I got them from the ASR. Just wondering if they are the same. Heads on mine are all connected with flowing skirts, like 20 heads.

I have them mid-tank. I am running a Radion Pro over a 24x24x20 cube.

I need to get a new FTS. I'll get one tomorrow.

I can't even count the heads right now. I bought them from a reefer in Alabama I believe.

Here is an iPhone fts

My friend had some with super long skirts.

Just curious, do those of you that have the duncans with the longer skirts feed them? Wondering if the longer skirts would be some type of response based on how much food other than light they recieve.

mine look very similar, ill get a pic up tonight if i remember, mine are on the sand 20" below a 6x39w t-5 with pretty steady light flow.

Mine never get target fed. They are about 12" below surface under radion pro light. The flow is from an mp10 that changes flow throughout the day.

Mine were beautifully long when I first picked em up, but I've been feeding them regularly and they've shortened up a bit. also more heads, so Idk if that factored into it. Under t5's have always been 12" away in good flow. Colonial also, i had a branching frag for a bit that was short polyped

I've got my duncan about 20" from my T5's. Tentacles are about 1" Look just like alot of yalls do. Gone from 1 head to 7 heads in just a couple months.

Heres mine, they get fed pretty regularly (every 2-3 days) good growth, fairly short skirts.

I know that there is only supposed to be 1 species of duncan but I have one like yours with short polyps and lighter in color and grows clumpy like that and I have another thats darker branches and longer polyps. I think they are different types
