Long Tenacle Anemones

I just added a long tenacle to my 100 gallon, it appears to be laying on its side is this normal. I have read that it will move all over the tank until it finds a good home is this true. Any tips on feeding small pieces of shrimp?

Just put the shrimp in the tentacles, it will move it to its mouth. If its just laying on its side at not moving it may be a sign of stress, make sure the foot isn't pealing. It may take a while for it to move once it knows it wont just be moved by some one again.

Thanks for the reply, my tank is approximately 6 months old with 115 lbs of live rock. I have done water test every week and 15% water changes every two weeks all levels are good.

Try and feed it see if the tentacles are sticky.

If the foot of the anemone isnt planted yet dont worry. They will plant it once they acclimate to the tank.

Most important thing is if the anemone can still detect food once its touching the tentacles.

Damsels can host anemoes, usually the dominoe damsels. Do you have one?

Try and feed it some dry shrimp, or get a bunch of flake food and hold it tight in ur water untill it becomes a large pellet(5-10 seconds) and push it into the anemones tentacles.

Longest I ever had an LTA wait before a plant was 3 days.

Then again I have a healthy one that has never planted its foot:D

Thats why Im telling you to feed it, if it doesnt want food, best bet is to return it. It will only be a matter of time before it dies.

Should I give him a few days before I try to feed.

Yes.

Let him/her bury the foot into the substrate first.
