this is my second plate, if I loose this one, then I will probably never get a plate coral again.

any help will be great.

thanks

Plates can be a hit or miss. Do you have it in a low flow area? That can cause that. Plates are finicky. I have had some that have lasted a couple of weeks and then some i have had for a while then they go. I have had my latest one for almost 2 years. This will be my last one. Then of course i didn't drop nearly as much as you probably did on that specimen. Do you feed it as well? I feed mine at least once a week. Water parameters? Everybody is going to ask that when it comes to helping you as well. You my want to dip it to stop the recession as well. Sometimes that helps. They are iodine dips.

I have moved it to a low flow area at the moment. the only low flow area in my tank.

It's being keep in my SPS tank, where I have all my water parameter check off.

I dose 3 drops of lugol's solution every week, and Kent Marine Strontium & Molybdenum every 4 days as per the instruction.

it's only been in my tank for few days, and I think the damage is from the transportation.

btw, I paid $50 for this guy, and it's about 6" in diameter.

latest picture... it's going downhill fast. this is my second plate and will be the last.

i guess at the stage, just to be prepare for the worst??

also what's the chance I will see the off spring from a dead plate skeleton? this particular specimen has really nice green colour. that's why I bought it, even though I and quite sure that it will go.

I have tried that before, leaving my dead plate to spawn new babies. I kept it in the for over 3 months and not one. I ended throwing it out but it doesn't hurt to try. 50.00 for a 6" inch plate. you got a awesome deal! I have seen them going for over a 100.00 for a 2 to 3 inch guy that color. Too bad.
You could try a dip in lugols to stop the recession. Not too much though. just a light tea color is what you are looking for. Take it out of the tank of course. and put it in a small bowl with some of the tank water. add a few drops of lugols and leave it sit for 5-10 minutes. No guarantee but doesn't hurt. Didn't help with my LPS but it was worth a shot. was going to die anyway. Why are you dosing if i may ask Strontium & Molybdenum? Only thing i dose in my tank is the normal cal and alk. Water changes take care of the rest of my parameters. One thing i try never to do is put something different in my tank. Case in point. I had an algae problem. tried everything just about. Put slime remover in. over a week later my large meat coral faded out. Shouldn't of done it but the company said it was safe. Well, not for my LPS. over 130.00 for that coral and hope it comes back. Well good luck with your plate. Probably a goner but you live and learn in this hobby. I have that's for sure. My wallet. lol!!

I've kept plates before - yours is beautiful by the way.

I posted up a pic a while back of a plate in similar condition. I was able to stop the jelly and get it healing up, but upon return to the main tank - it reinfected and I lost it and another perfectly healthy pink LT plate.

If you want to try, In a quarantine tank, I used chloramphenicol - a prescription veterinary med to knock out the brown jelly. (treatment instructions are on the web)
I should have left it in the QT, but since it looked to be well on the way to recovery, I returned it to the main tank. Jelly returned and spread to another LT plate. In the end I lost them both. Not had another since but really like these. One day I'll get another.

the tissue is getting worth.

How often can I dip it in Iodine?

and at this point, I amost want to yank it out the SPS and put it in the Biocube 29 with my Peacock mantis. it's water with more nutrient in it. During the water change, BC29 gets the water from the sps tank.

and there are only softies in theres, so I don't have to worry about the spead of disease.

I would only do for now once and then wait. It only kills off the bacteria so it will stop the recession. If it is going to die though you won't be able to do anything. Iodine works just like it would on a person. Disinfects the wound.

keep your fingers crossed. Mine has made three comebacks after i thought it was a gonner. Love the color, hope it makes it. Are you spot feeding it? That might help??

there's no more live tissue left. I moved it my BC29 with peacock mantis shrimp now, and probably gonna leave it there and see if it will grow on off spring.

it's sad that this plate died on me, it surely is a fine speciman

this is my last one... not even going to bother trying them any more.

and seems like it trigger a chain reaction on my euphyllia.
