I have a Long Tentacle Urchin that is losing its spines, What could be causing this to happen? My nitrates are around 25 ppm and my phosphate is under 0.4 ppm. How should I be feeding it?
Usually low salinity or poor acclimation causes it, but there are other causes as well. We need to know more background about the tank urchin and all of your parameters.
Salinity is 1.025 and it has been in the tank for five months. It is only recently that it started to lose its spines. Ammonia & nitrite are 0 ppm, nitrate is around 25 ppm, phosphate fluctuates between 0 - 0.4 ppm, and calcium is between 250-350.
