Long term diatoms (lights on only)

Well after i upgraded my lighting from 250w HQI pheonix bulbs that were a little too old at 14months old to Radium 400w i haven't had any more of the diatoms show up in the last 2 days.

I have cut my photo period to 4hrs to try and get the corals adjusted and it seems to have helped.

As far as my water/salt i use a 6 stage rodi with fresh filters(changed about 2 weeks ago, they were about 8months old before) including cloramine filters. As far as salt I had been using D&D H2O before but have switched to ESV salt mix for the last 2 water changes.

Any luck with yours Greech

:hammer: (*edit* if the rodi setup is proven fresh and not defective,) ok,....everybody take a deep breath here, your tank is kina young right (less than a year and a half)? lets not forget, we are not only dealing with an advanced form of chemistry, but an advanced form of biology that is not completely understood yet. In this case, Id recommend changing nothing, With regular feeding/bio load/tank volume, I would not see any excess input of silica. IMO. I would wait 4-6 months, you'd probably see a reduction in algae, and after that, I would start to look deeper into excess nutrients.
