Rocky
Hello everyone,
I just recently restarted my 150 gallon tank, that had been up and running for about 2 1/2 years, and am rethinking everything on this re-boot. In a nutshell: no more carbon dosing for me, and I am planning to use good quality live rock, and macro algae in its place, in an effort to go back to what worked well for me when I set up my first tank 12 years ago.
Anyway, one of the things I have been rethinking is how I supplement alk/calcium/magnesium. I have experience with calcium reactors, dosing, etc, and want to use the four head doser I have now to accomplish this. I had been using ESV B-Ionic with my tank before the reboot, but have been reading about the Red Sea Reef Care program (minus the NoPoX), but found that I saw lots of posts when it was introduced in 2010/2011, but don't seem to find much recently. Is there anyone out there with long term experience, and opinions on this program? I guess what I am looking for specifically is compared to other forms of two part dosing?
What interested me is the additional trace elements that Red Sea uses in the form of their Reef Colors line, and how this supplements the standard Alk, Calcium, and Magnesium products. Wanted to see if anyone with experience would prefer this system over the more basic B-Ionic, or if it is better to just stick with the old school, simpler line.
Thanks in advance!
