Long wait, finally the 270g build start.

After few months searching for new house finally I found one not to far from my old house. This is a rented house by the company I work for. During searching the house, I have plan in my mind the new house must have areas to place my new aquarium and I plan a good size aquarium.

The aquarium is 72"L X 36"W X 24"H, equivalence to 270g.

My friend will build the aquarium, right now he is in holiday, I have to wait until he coming back. The aquarium will be sitting inside the koi pond inside the house, below the staircase. This pond can't use because there is a crack on the floor of it. The pond size is 11'L X 4'W X 30"H.

While I wait for him to comeback, I start to build the stand first. It will be used 2"x2" still bar.

My old set-up now rests in the garage waiting someone to take it. I don't want to used it because,
1. So many scratch on it.
2. I feel the aquarium is to small now and I wanted a big size, so the fish will be happy to swim around with larger space.
3. And it time to change after running for 6 years. I'm happy with it.

Today I just finish 1st coating of paint to the stand and I will be do the 2nd coating by tomorrow.

While I wait to finish the stand job, I will paste on some of the picture of my old set-up here.

This tank start sometime on 2004, tank size is 4' X 2' X 2'. It has overflow on the side of the tank. The stand I made my self using 2" x 2" wood. The sump size 3' X 18" X 18".

For the filter I used weipro skimmer and a lot of live rock and live sand.

Lighting. For the beginning I used 4 VHO light, 2 blue and 2 white. And after 2 year I change to T5, 5 white and 3 blue actinic. And lastly I change to 2 150watt metal halide and 4 T5 blue actinic.

Brunei is a small country, not many LFS and not many reefer here in Brunei.

My friend cal up today saying that the glass has been cut and will be deliver next week.

As I promise here is a picture of the stand ready at place to be. Now I wait the tank ready. Yesterday the shop drills the glass for overflow. Maybe tomorrow or next day my friend will slowly start to build the tank. Once the tank ready and deliver I will post the picture. For today it only stand picture.

Well after a long delay here, finally the tank arrive last night. The workmen ship not so nice, the glue is not really fine. The problem come from glass cutting. After they start glue then they fine the glass little bit not balance, and they have to open and re-cut the glass again. The old glue not really clean before they put on new glue. But, never mind that can be cover up when I build the cover.

Now the tank already at the position, waiting to set-up the plumbing for overflow and return, but it only for temporary. Because my sump not ready yet. I hope to do temporary set-up to circle the tank first.

Since now is busy month for me, there will be a big function for the whole 3 week. A lot of preparation needed to do. This build will be put on hole first.

Later I will posted the picture, because right now I still at work waiting my staff to finish production for up coming function.

The rock that going to be for the tank. This rock from my old set-up has been dry for about 2 month. Some has a good size, 2pcs about 1.5'L and 1' W and the rest about 1'.
