longnose hawk... how aggressive?

I'm going to start restocking my 29g (30 by 12 by 18") mixed reef after I move the remaining fish (a yellowtail damsel) into my biocube, and move the tank onto its new stand (hate the old one).

currently, my only concrete fish plans are a mated pair of Yellowhead Jawfish and Im pondering the idea of a Blackcap Basslet as well. Longnose hawks have always been a favorite fish of mine that I have never been able to keep because I've always had shrimp in the tank. because I will be keeping shrimp in the biocube, I would be fine not keeping any in this tank.

would the longnose hawk be too aggressive for my chosen tnakmates? would they grow too big? I could always go with a geometric pygmy hawk, but I'd much rather have a larger, less cryptic (true) hawkfish. any help is apprecciated!

I have a long nose hawk in my 90gal, so I can't vouch for if your tank is too small - but I have ornamental shrimp and he ignores them. He's an unusual hawk though - he perches only occasionally. Generally he swims around with the hippo tang. Cool fish, lots of personality. Definitely NOT skittish at all, he sits right near my hands when I'm doing tank maintainence.

I had one for years and it was never a bother to anything. I had it with an algae blenny (similar "ish" to a jaw) and a dottyback. It never even blinked at them. IT was very peaceful and a real character. Something i definately miss from the tank now.

Can't say about tank size but if it is ok make sure you get it a gorgonian to sit in and it'll thankyou for it.

I had one years ago. Very cool fish. It didn't bother any hermits, snails or cleaner shrimp. Not even small fish. They do jump, that's how I lost mine.

You're right, they are great jumpers. Great fish, tons of personality, easy; but mine will go after any small invert.

Ditto here. Mine jumped at night when my Myrichthys was on the prowl. Found them at death's door the next morning. :( Great fish though...

Ive had a pair in the past, got some more on their way, great fish.

Only thing I would say is they may stalk other small fish, I once had a tiny convict tang, which they stalked and nipped its fins, they did leave it alone after a while though
