Longtentacled Anemone not doing well

I bought this critter with two maroon clowns a week ago, water conditions normal with a low elevation of Nitrates >10 PPM...
anyways the anemone looked healthy at the LFS, put him in the tank and now his tentacles look shriveled he is just laying on his side in the corner of the tank, and the foot pedestal is shrunken up instead of a nice elongated tube, should I write this one off as a loss and flush it? BTW the clowns look happya nd frolicking and clowning... so are the rest of my snails and fish...and my ZOAs are doing well.

Mine did he same thing when I got him a couple of days ago. He's settled now I think and he looks great. Now I'm just waiting for my clownfish to find him.

You should really give it time. How long did you acclimate? How much light do you give the tank? The tentacles shrivel when its dark, cold or stressed.

I recently purchased an LTA as well, acclimated using the drip method fo 45minutes, then it dunked right in. It was all over the place at first but then found a nice sandy spot near a big rock, its foot took root within a day. It opens up real big for the photo period and then tubes up for night time.

nope dead

nope dead

This thing just shriveled up and died, it did not get better so i flushed it, I think it wasnt too healthy to begin with. I wait another month when my phosphates and nitrates go to zero before i get any more livestock. They were a little elevated but not by much. This is a new tank. The fish and zoas though are getting along famously.

Was it dissolving or melting away? If not, then it probably wasn't dead. In one of your other posts, you said your tank was 33 days and counting on the 16th, which puts it at 35 days now...way too young for an anemone. This was basically the same advice given in your other thread:

I'm not trying to sound harsh, but please, research before you buy!
