Lonley clown fish

I had a pair of Ocellaris clowns together for 6 months until one of them died about a year ago while i was gone in the military. Now I am back and I was wondering if i can introduce another clown either bigger one like the one that died. Or a smaller on because the one in there might have turned female. Or if i even can now?

Sorry about the loss while you were away (thank you for your service btw). I had a breeding pair and lost the female. I went and bought the remaining fish a new friend but made sure I got a smaller one. The one I had in my tank was about 2 1/2 inches and the one I put in there with him was about 1 1/2 inches. They get along great. There wasn't much fuss at all from my original and the smaller one immediately began showing signs of submission (shaking under the larger one). If you get a larger fish then the one that's in your tank now, there would most likely be a fight for dominance. The larger one will become female and the smaller one will be the male. Mine have been together about 5 months or so.

Hope it all works out for you.

I've got a lonely picasso percula that I purchased as a pair recently. One of them didn't make it. I'm not sure about getting him a new friend right away because he's a little aggressive - at least towards hands. Every time I try to adjust something in his tank or clean the bottom he attacks and nips me & my husband incessantly. He's our little terrorist so we've called him Achmed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uwOL4rB-go

Get the smallest one that you can find (( ideally it will still be a male, or unsexed juvi )). I would then put it in a breeder box for at least 24 hours to see how your existing clown reacts.
