Look at what happened to Cindy's tang

WOWZERS! LOL, the anem got a huuuuuuuuge meal. Guess the toxins from the flatworms made it a little sick and it got too close to the anem or something! :eek1: :eek1: :eek1: :eek1: :eek1:

Wow :eek2: I can't imagine anything not being able to get away unless they were sick anyway or there was a wierd anomoly where a PH directing the flow and the creature got caught going right at the mouth.

Sorry, that's two yellow tangs gone recently in our area.

Sorry Cindy, I can't believe you were able to get a picture like that.

Since we just lost Flame I know how it sucks to lose a fish. Even if the picture is kinda funny.

The thing about that anemone is it is really sticky. If a really sick (or dead) fish (my fish was sick after the flatworm treatment) got caught on the edge, the anemone could have used its sticky tentacles to pull it in to its mouth, no problem. It is a bummer, but I am so relieved to have taken care of the flatworm problem. That would have caused much more trauma in my tank in the long run. Things are starting to get back to normal. I'd like to replace the tang with an Angel (Coral beauty would be ideal, but a flame angel is cool too), but I know they are usually not reef safe.

Cindy, is the tang still inside the anemone or did it spit it out? I would think that it would be too big to swallow and completely digest.

When the lights turned out, the anemone spit the tang out. I pulled it out immediately. It did manage to digest the eyeballs though.

How is the tank doing and have you gotten any new corals?

Call me disconnected with society for noticing this but I still find it wierd that fish eyes are by far the preferred first course whenever the prey is not immediately and entirely consumed. Somethings I will never understand...

Ok GROSS!!!! And Chris you are not disconnected from society at all. But we are also alot different than animals for the most part. Well maybe that statement isn't quite true. Especially for some of the people I have met in my lifetime.

But there are countries where people would think eyeballs were a delicacy. Don't know which country? Possibly the same one that eat's monkey brains.

Oh, and I will defintely be there tonight to pick up Herman the hermit.

Asian countries like fish eyes, not sure if they eat monkey brains but probably so. I just saw a youtube video of people killing dogs, rats, and cats to eat in China:eek1: :eek1: :eek1: I'm Chinese and that sickens me.

There are only very small muscles that hold the eyeball in its socket so it makes it easy for animals that don't have hands to pluck it out and get a tasty treat. The viscous fluid inside an eyeball is oh so yummy.
