I am trying to make room for some new corals, so I am moving, trimming, scraping, fragging, and breaking stuff in my tank today (sale thread tomorrow for whatever doesn't fit back in). I turned over a rock and saw a shiny gray spotted sheet of ooze work its way into a hole.
azrednex was over and helped me hammer the rock apart to find out what it was. He thought it looked like an octopus (and it did!) until we finally poured it out of the rock like a ball of snot.
It has a wound in the center from poking at it with tweezers. It is a polyclad flatworm (do a google search if you are curious).
I do not know enough about it to put it back in the tank. It has to have been in there for the last year, I haven't bought live rock since last may. They are carnivorous and may eat snails? If anyone wants it, come and get it. The cup is 3.5 inches across the bottom:
