Look what i found! Paucifasciatus!

I can't recall the last time I saw one of these, so I'd say it's a big deal :D BTW, I didn't know they have an eye spot on their dosal... as juvi's?

For a second there I thought you had a secret stash of them somewhere

haha thanks everyone.

yes the big black dot on the soft dorsal indicates juvenile. but the spot is fading and they are losing the spot as they are growing into small adults now.

they are just below 3 inches each.

i think there's still one more somewhere in my country that's not sold. because if i recall properly, lfs brought in 3.

the gramma linkii is very nice now that it's rather stable.

on a more sour note. the carbon dioxide tank at home is apparently "leaking" and is out of gas. so it's up to my mom and my brother now to get it settled via e-mail instructions from me. not the happiest thing i want to hear. so i expect to go home with much casualties. coral wise.

sigh. i hate murphy!

The linki is extremely shy but it has started feeding on mysis yesterday. I hope the broken tail will quickly heal. It is not small! It is over 2" which is considered big for a gramma size.

So nice fishes.... red sea buterflies are awsome ...although common in nature...too scarce in market... here in Brazil the red paucifasciatus were missing over 10 years...

Grama is a nice fish ! Shy but with lot´s of personality...

i agree.

red sea have some of the more brilliant butterflies.

the aurigas from red sea are beautiful with the added black patch near the soft dorsal
the red sea "raccoon" is also a beautiful.

heniochus intermedius
semilarvatus

these 2 above are the more commonly offered ones.

larvatus and mesoleucos have recently gone abit scarce too, although they can be obtained once in awhile.

the ones that have really gone off the radar is paucifasciatus and the red sea regals. i'm so happy to obtain two paucifasciatus.

i posted in another thread that these 2 did not make it :(

after a few months they just died for no reason.

all other fishes are healthy and disease free.

sigh.

Hey Lemon, did you treat the butterflies with any meds when they first arrived?

Peter

yes i QTed them for 3 weeks with praziquantel and hyposalinity. they were picture perfect but just died for no reason.

Were they eating well? It's a real bummer... I've heard they are very hardy.

eating like pigs.

pellets and flakes as well as frozen mysis.

they were very hardy and ate from the get go.

but one fine they, one of them just stopped eating and died for no reason. the other soon followed suit, in about a few days.

I wonder why they are not coming to S'pore and the states.

In HK there's a red sea shipment every couple of weeks approx.

On larger shipments you can always get approx 6-10 C.paucifasciatus and same qtty for H.intermedius, compare to over 100pcs of Asfurs, Purples or Sohals (each species).

Lemon, if there are s'pore hobbyists coming to buy in HK, you should get a new pair.

That Gramma is awsome.

i've friends in japan and hong kong and i am told that they do get it on occasions too.

i've been to hk a few times but it's difficult to be so lucky to see the fish when i'm there.

i'm going to HK during december next month for a few days and hopefully, get to see it so i can bring them back.

The problem he never knows when he will get them, he never knows about size of the shipment, its more up to the weather and the Yemen dude who basically won the lottery when Saudi closed and now doing whatever he wants.

Good luck anyways.
