Hello all, I have been away from the hobby for a while but got back into it bout a year ago. Currently have a 34g solana and we are lookin to start a FOWLR. So we are lookin for a tank anywhere from a 60g-125g with a built in overflow any one got an extra? ha ha and also any advice, pics, live stock list or tips we would like to hear it all thanks.

Has any one here ever tried to DIY a built in overflow or drilled an acrylic tank for one? Not sure if its possible or worth the time and money to.

i know one of the guys in Las Cruces does them all of the time. I am going to drill my new 120 tank and install a premade overflow. Acrylic is not to hard to work with, especially the drilling.

Ok well at least i know people do it. I talked to a company that has done this in alb they said it could be as much as $500 to do a built in overflow and drill the tank. Seems like a lot though. Did you make your own overflow or can you buy them premade?

glass holes.com they send ya a kit with drill bit, all ya need is elbow grease, patience, and a drill

I drilled and built my own overflow for my new 40g breeder. I just bought black acrylic, cut it to size, cut some grooves/slots in it, acrylic cemented them together and siliconed it to my glass tank. Works like a champ. I only paid 10 bucks for the 1/2" black acrylic scrap from ABQ plastics.

As for the gl*******s bit. It's meant for glass. You could probably get away with a normal hole saw with a bit more teeth for an acrylic tank.

Pic of semi-coast-to-coast that I did using 1/2" black acrylic affixed to 3/4" acrylic. I also drilled 3 holes in the back of the tank to accept 1.5" BeanAnimal drains.

I used a table saw with a high amount of teeth. This is the only pic I have that you can see the entire thing.
