Hi. If anyone has a Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router, Model WRT54GL, they are not using, I'd like to buy it.

Please let me know. Thanks.

Will my answer have any effect on your having one for me to use or not? J/K

I want to create a wireless access point for my AC Jr. And yes, I need that model because it supports Linux.

wasnt there a thread on how to modify it so you can load linux on it, and attach the temp and ph probes with a little modification to the board?

I may have a brand new one...

Trevor, I'm interested if you have the router.

I think you are referring to the 1-wire controllers (I think that is what it is called). Is that what you were also referring to, Steve? No, I don't want to do that mod, although I have read some of that thread. It sounds very involved. And from what I've read, there is no savings over a Neptune or DA controller.

Some of the old G's are actually Linux based. Actually - I think the old G is better than the GL (more memory?). I have an old G - but I don't know if I want to get rid of it. :P

It needs to be a Linksys. As Minh stated, some of the older ones will also work. Trevor, I will take it if its rev 4 or earlier.

This is why I was reluctant to state my use for it... I'm just asking the wrong crowd. It would be cool to find a good cheap source and do a DIY class on the AC Jr wifi mod.

I think I do but it'll have to be found over the weekend as I'll have to clear out a room to get to the box :( I need to anyways so if you don't find one by next week, I'll chime in monday and tell yah if I still have it. I have no interest in modding it, keeping it, or taking any money for it.

sorry bud, its a rev 6, so it has half the ram your looking for to flash to. You can still compile a minimal version if your using guides from wrtrouters.com

Mark if you do the DIY class let me know. In an earlier career I got a degree in Bio Medical electronics and spent 10 years doing repairs on IV Pumps, Defibrillators, and anything else electronic in a hospital for 10 years. I have a AC pro I picked up used and have never installed and would like to monitor my tank on the network but I would have to get some sort of a wireless to serial adapter.

Actually, with an AC Pro, I believe all you need is the simple adapter like you said. That's easy. My AC Jr needs a serious work-around to get it to link up to a home network, since it wasn't designed for that feature.

I'm sure if you asked on the Neptune thread, you would get some very easy to follow advice for your controller, since it was designed to work with a network.
