I don't want to stir up controversy, but I think your statistics are off. If 1 in 50 pumps lasted more than a few months than it would suggest that 98% of the time their pumps are defective. You're the exception though. For every person who claims they get years from a Jebao pump, there are 50 that don't get more than a couple months.
I understand budget coming into play, I really do. I started my current tank with 2 used Tunze pumps and saved for months to get Vortech pumps again.
On a nano, they are the best pump available IMO. I think you would sing a different tune if you got less than 6 months of use out of the Jebao stuff.
I'm not saying they are the best, but from researching jebao, I would be hard pressed to say that their pumps fail within a couple of months 98%of the time. Not to mention that I've bought their pumps twice now and not experience that failure rate.
You're right, if that were the case I would never recommend not but their product. Not would anyone else.
I'm aware that people who experience problems tend to complain, so we see their voices online far more than we see satisfied customer. Which may account for a far more negative reputation. Overall I would venture to say the popular opinion is that it is a very good pump for the money.
