I have a 30 gal nano reed tank. I have a clown fish, royal gramma, starry blenny and a prawn goby. I want to add 1 last fish to my tank but I can't seem to find one i really like. I want something more on the rare side that you wouldnt see normally in a nano. The fish I am leaning towards getting is Tanakas pygmy wrasse. Are there any other fish you guys would recommend besides the wrasse?

I have a Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse and it's a cool fish but he's cryptic for sure. He spends his time looking for pods so if you don't have a lot of pods it might not work. Why don't you go with a neon goby or a blenny something more of standard, cool, fill in fish.

I actually had a blue neon goby but he died a long time ago. I have been reading on peoples experiences with the pygmy and a lot of them eat pellets as well as pods. I want something that will actually hang in and out of the rocks. My gobies chill at the bottom my clown and royal swim out in the open so i wanted something to hang in the caves a lot.

Neon gobies have a life expectancy of about 1.5 years. Wrasses live longer. Any of the three species of pygmy wrasse would be excellent. While a small tank would work, I have large tanks and they do very well there as well..

for a thirty gallon, 4 fish is at the limit. 5 would be pushing it, but if you really wanted another, go with a firefish. better safe than sorry

I have a pygmy wrasse in my 65. You will not be disappointed with that fish. Out of my 8 fish, the wrasse is my favorite. He is not at all cryptic. He never stops swimming in and out of the rocks, up, down, everywhere, and he is every fish's best friend. My firefish is afraid of everything that moves and I have to feed him separately from every fish. If any fish comes near him while he's eating, he will run away. EXCEPT for the pygmy wrasse. He will eat right along side him.

I promise you will love the pygmy wrasse. Awesome fish.

woah, i really like this option! He looks pretty awesome!

I really like that fish too, but they don't seem to show up at any of the LFS in my area. I'm not really sure if I want to shell out upwards of $90 bucks to buy this fish online either. Definitely something to think about.
